The Bradley HS Choir Department is launching a major district wide fundraising effort this week. We are initiating Hilliard Idol as a singing competition to raise monies for the Symphonic Choir to go to Carnegie Hall. Scroll down to view the attached promotion poster below designed by our technical director, Mr. Robert Vance.
We are modeling this competition after the district wide band competition BATTLE OF THE BANDS hosted by the Davidson Theater department and of course American Idol.
Here is the info:
Basically 2 divisions: Jr. Division grades 4-8. Sr. Division grades 9-12. Anyone who resides in the Hilliard City School district (including parachocial/private schools) is eligible to apply.
Preliminary auditions are on Nov 21 – registration fee of $15 (cost of a Rave movie ticket and popcorn) gets verbal and written feedback for the applicant and a free ticket to the Finals. Email Lora_moore to receive information and a registration form to be postmarked by November 20th with confirmation of receipt by email.
10 finalists in each division will be chosen to compete in the Final Competition LIVE on December 5 at Bradley HS Performing Arts Center.
Judges for this competition will be from outside of our district to allow for a fair competition. The winner will be determined by averaging the 3 judges and the audience vote certified by Bradley’s own math department chair, Cindy Cote, who will serve as our “accountant.”
Winner of each division with 100 applicants in that division receives a $300 cash/gift card prize and the title of Hilliard Idol 2009. Second place receives $100 cash/gift card and will take the winner’s place if they can’t fulfill their year performance obligation.
During the live show, Bradley Symphonic, JAG (Just All Guys), PAW, (Pretty Awesome Women) and our jazz choir, Shades of Blue will perform. Our guest choir for the evening will be the Columbus Children’s Choir under the direction of Jayne Wenner.
